7 Happy Hour Specials in Hollywood

Hollywood’s happy hour scene is budget friendly and generous. The restaurants and bars below offer both great drink and food specials to help you take your mind off things and have some fun

After a long day at work, few things are as refreshing as an ice cold beer or a stiff cocktail (or both). Going out for drinks, however, can add up fast: Alcohol isn’t exactly cheap, and that one drink can quickly turn into another.

Fortunately for your bank account, Hollywood’s happy hour scene is budget friendly and generous. The restaurants and bars below offer both great drink and food specials to help you take your mind off things and have some fun:

Lola’s on Harrison

This elegant dining destination is a hidden treasure on Downtown Hollywood’s main street. “Budget-friendly” is probably not the first thought you have when you see the place, but rest assured that it is – and then some. Lola’s lavish décor hides a happy hour that features $4 well cocktails, $6 martinis, and half-priced craft beers and wines.

The food menu is also discounted and includes notable items like pork belly tacos, truffle fries and jumbo crab cakes. Don’t want to leave your pet at home alone? He or she can join in on the fun: The bar is pet-friendly, so your pooch can tag along.

Point Royal

The Diplomat Beach Resort is home to a bevy of culinary concepts, and one of our favorites is Point Royal. The Coastal American restaurant from celebrity chef Geoffrey Zakarian offers a daily oyster hour that is sure to get hotel guests and locals excited. From 5:30-7:30pm, patrons can enjoy an extensive selection of raw bar items and shooters at hard-to-believe prices.

Yellowfin tuna tartare, local fish ceviche and clams all ring in at $7 or less, and their all-you-can-eat stone crab deal is great — particularly if you’re starving. While food is the main focus of this happy hour, those who like to imbibe have several options during this happy hour. Tequila Sunrise, Tommy’s Margarita and other delectable drinks are available for $8 or less. With so much to choose from, you’ll never want to leave Point Royale.

Patty Mac’s

If you’re in the mood for a more casual spot, take a look at Patty Mac’s.  From 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday-Friday, this American restaurant off Harrison Street cooks up classic bar bites like calamari, wings and sliders to satisfy the workday blues. We’re suckers for sweet potato fries, and Patty Mac’s version hits the spot; make sure they’re a part of your order. Wash it all down with discounted house wine, sparkling wine and draft beers. This is a no-frills happy hour at its finest.

Mickey Byrne’s Irish Pub

No matter the night, you’re going to find a great deal at Mickey Byrne’s Irish Pub. This Hollywood institution offers discounts on various items each evening. For example, every Monday night is Steak Night. This clear response to Meatless Mondays lets guests enjoy a hearty steak for just $10. On Tuesdays, Trivia Night overlaps with the bar’s regular happy hour to ensure a lively time answering pop culture questions. And on Thursdays, $8 pitchers and 50-cent wings abound.

Lucky Street Restaurant and Lounge

Downtown Hollywood is full of fun spots, but those who venture out of the heart of the city will find equally impressive venues. One of those is Lucky Street Restaurant and Lounge, which caters to happy hour and late-night crowds. Menu standouts include the smoked buffalo wings and duck fat fries, both of which do an excellent job at soaking up all the alcohol you’re drinking. Speaking of alcohol, wines by the glass and draft beers are just a few of the discounted items during Lucky Street’s happy hour. Drinks are stiff, so we suggest NOT driving – get an Uber instead.

GG’s Waterfront Bar & Grill

Sometimes, you want a view with your meal and/or cocktail. If you’re one of those people, GG’s Waterfront Bar & Grill has you covered. Overlooking the Intracoastal, GG’s is a go-to for seafood lovers although there are plenty of meat selections as well. The daily happy hour runs from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm, during which beer, wine and premium spirits are available at a fraction of the cost. Appetizers are also on special, so you don’t need to worry about heading elsewhere to keep the good times going.

5 O’Clock Somewhere Bar & Grill

The appropriately named 5 O’Clock Somewhere Bar & Grill lives up to its reputation with happy hour starting at 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday. Don’t expect to pay more than $4 to $6 for a drink while here: Cocktail selections clock in at $6 while house wines by the glass and domestic drafts will only set you back $5 and $4, respectively. Although you can opt for a mojito or one of the bar’s tequila cocktails, we suggest you trust your bartender with the Buried Treasure. This handcrafted cocktail of the day is never the same – all the more reason to keep coming back.
