The way of the Empanada

If you haven’t tried an empanada before, here’s what you need to know. For Venezuelans, empanadas are great for any type of situation, from breakfast –typically near the beach, to dinner.

Empanadas have a thin fried crisp crust and a tender inside of a pre-cooked version of cornmeal. Fillings include cheese, shredded meat, grounded beef, beans and cheese, or even lobster.

And it doesn’t end there. Real Venezuelans can’t eat an empanada without pouring some sauce over it. Combinations are limitless and include garlic sauce, mango spicy sauce, habanero sauce, or cilantro sauce, depending on what you prefer.

Arepas, Cachapas, and Venezuelan Chicha

Antojitos has been rated as one of the best Venezuelan restaurants out there. Its prices range under $10 and you can pretty much enjoy any traditional arepa like the Reina Pepiada, The Domino, or the Pabellon arepa, as well as tequeños, golfeados, and many more.

Antojitos open during weekends, from 10 am to 5 pm and are great for having breakfast before going to the beach. It’s great for kids, groups, and anyone who wants to try some authentic Venezuelan food.
