4 Fun Cafes in Hollywood

When that caffeine craving kicks in, where do you go? If the first place that comes to mind is Starbucks, it’s time to change that mindset: Hollywood is filled with a wide range of cafes and coffee shops that can satisfy the pickiest of palates.

Read on to find out more about four coffee spots that should be on your radar. Whether you’re looking for a standard cup of Joe, something a little fancier or some delicious baked goods to go with your morning, there’s something for everyone:

Dark Brew Eatery and Coffee Shoppe

This charming neighborhood haunt is located inside a shopping plaza on the quiet part of town, but its delicious selections speak volumes. You can expect to find most of your usual coffee drinks including cappuccinos, cold brews, and espresso. If you want a regular coffee, they’ve got you covered, too.

On the more creative side, though, are options like a rose latte and a lavender latte, both of which are to die for. FYI: Alternative kinds of milk are available in case you’re avoiding dairy, which is a nice touch. Food-wise, expect an extensive crepe menu that includes savory and sweet bites like a turkey pesto crepe, spinach feta crepe, berries, and cream crepe and – our fave – a dulce de leche crepe.

Should you be in the mood for something more traditional, there’s also familiar café fare like a club sandwich, avocado toast, and kale salad; baked goods like shortbread cookies are also available for dining in or grab and go.

Café Club by Les Artistes

This café has been around for a while, and it’s no surprise why: It’s awesome. Café Club by Les Artistes is – as the name suggests – French-inspired, and its fare reflects that influence wholeheartedly.

Expect to see a lot of people sipping on iced beverages; cold options like their French vanilla iced coffee are fan favorites, and they’re great for staying cool if you eat outside. Speaking of dining, the extensive offerings include the likes of a Croque monsieur, spicy crunch tuna sandwich, and crepes galore.

If none of the items speak to you, that’s okay: There’s an entire page on the menu dedicated to creating your meal. Make your salad, sandwich or savory crepe with brie cheese, prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, tahini and a ton of other choices; the sky is the limit. Prices are reasonable and a steal for the amount of food you get; come hungry or with a group to make the most of the menu.

Kay Rico Coffee

For a Latin touch with your coffee, look no further than Kay Rico Coffee. In addition to the typical coffee offerings such as espresso, macchiato, and cold brew, Kay Rico serves up some funky selections that are hard to find in Hollywood. Cuban coffee is rare in Broward, but Kay Rico can save you a trip to the 305 if you’re looking for a Cubano or Colada to get you through the day.

A golden milk latte, Greek frappe, and red-eye (cold brew with double espresso) are just a few of the other selections available here, and there are even smoothies if coffee isn’t your thing. Unlike other places on this list, Kay Rico doesn’t have too much of a food program. You’ll find a bagel, BLT and grilled cheese among the short-and-sweet food menu, but don’t let that deter you: What they do offer is pretty good (and cheap).

Events are a big thing at Kay Rico, and there’s always something going on at the café. Panels, lectures, and local artists showcase help keep patrons busy in the evening; you never know what you’ll find when you walk in.

The Little Sugars

Leave your diet at the door when you visit The Little Sugars – this place will destroy any healthy eating plan. It’s worth it, though, as the baked goods at The Little Sugars are next level. The coffee menu is short and sweet with traditional offerings;  here, the sweets take most of the spotlight (and rightfully)

If you just want a little nibble, there’s no shortage of things to taste: s’ mores cups, pecan pie, berry cheesecake, lemon bars, macarons … the list goes on and on.

Because of the long list of baked goods, it’s hard to pick just one (or three things). We suggest the cookies, which come in an assortment of decadent flavors. Salted chocolate chip, macadamia nut, chocolate chip cherry, and peanut butter are just a few of the highlights here.

The Little Sisters is also big on gift crates and larger orders; should you need cupcakes, a cake or a tiered creation for a specific event, they can come up with a custom order and price – all you need to do is ask. And if you need something for a special someone outside of Hollywood, the shop offers nation-wide shipping; you have no excuses now.
