4 Restaurants to Check Out on Hollywood’s Harrison Street

Whether you’re looking for good beer, good wine or some good grub, take a stroll down Harrison Street and pop into all of these fine establishments.

Harrison Street, one of the main arteries of Downtown Hollywood, is home to a number of neighborhood hotspots that can turn your weekday or weekend into a memorable one. Whether you’re looking for good beer, good wine or some good grub, take a stroll down Harrison Street and pop into one – or all – of these fine establishments.

The Tipsy Boar Gastropub

As the name suggests, this local watering hole offers plenty of adult libations to get the party started (or keep it going). Expect over three dozen beers available for your enjoyment, including known brands like Stella Artois and Yuengling as well as craft offerings from breweries like Abita, Cigar City and Victory.

Here, the food menu rivals the drink menu when it comes to length; there is literally something for everyone. Budget-friendly bar bites like bacon wrapped dates, cheeseburger sliders and lamb gyro croquettes will help you soak up some booze without breaking the bank.

Are you especially hungry? Try the large plates that can easily feed two or more people. Maine lobster mac and cheese, mojo-marinated pulled pork and blackened mahi mahi are just a few of the selections in this section. Don’t worry, herbivores: The Tipsy Boar has salads, too, although you’re probably not thinking about your diet if you’re eating here.

Wine Story

Just a few doors down from The Tipsy Boar is Wine Story. This place is to wine what The Tipsy Boar is to beer. In other words, there’s no shortage of grape options here.

Roughly one hundred varieties of wine are available by the bottle and there are over 60 wines available by the glass, so chances are you’ll find something to your liking.  Since the team behind Wine Story hails from France, you’ll quickly notice that many of the establishment’s wines also come from there, although other countries do make an appearance.

The food menu is unapologetically French, though: Nicoise salad, French onion soup, tartines, mussels, steak frites … the restaurant basically transports you to the country at a much more affordable price. Most plates are tapas-style, so order a bunch for the table.  There are full dishes, however, if that’s your preference.

The other thing you’ll notice about the restaurant: Its size. Wine Story is big, but it still feels intimate. You could bring a date here or gather your family and friends for a fun night out – either party would feel right at home.

Social Room

Food takes a backseat at this local lounge. Yes, there is finger food to ward off hunger, but you’re here to have some drinks and play some board games. Pull up to a table and try your hand at Connect Four or stretch your legs and play a round of cornhole. You’re going to get thirsty from all the activity, so stay hydrated with their draft and bottled beer selections or take advantage of the full bar and get your favorite drink.

The place can get crowded – especially on weekends – so your best bet is to head outdoors (weather permitting). The open patio is inviting and provides plenty of space to relax with your party or make some new friends. If you come here often enough, you’ll see many of the same faces – regulars and visitors alike love the joint.

For those guests who do get hungry, there are a few bites to choose from including pizzas, sandwiches and hot dogs. The kitchen is open late, so night owls can find comfort in the short-but-sweet bar menu while enjoying fantastic tunes from the DJ.

A La Turca

For almost 15 years, A La Turca has been churning out Mediterranean cuisine at 1848 Harrison Street, and it shows no signs of slowing down. This unpretentious Middle Eastern restaurant welcomes diners of all appetites: Meat-eaters and vegetarians can dive right into the ample dining options.

Patrons looking for lighter items can select from mezzes (appetizers) such as baba ghanoush — charcoal cooked eggplant mixed with tahini garlic and olive oil—and zucchini pancakes. Other small bites like lamb pops and spinach pie are designed for sharing, while specialties like the branzino and falafel medley are filling and satisfying on their own.

Daily drink specials are not to be missed. Monday through Wednesday, a different liquor or drink is available for just $5 all day long. We suggest you clear your schedule for Martini Monday, Tequila Tuesday and Whiskey Wednesday.

As you can see, Harrison Street is full of diverse spots worth your while. All of the places we’ve listed are just a few doors or blocks away from one another; you can check them all out the same night or spread them out. And in between these spots, there are many other restaurants and bars to discover.  The next time you’re in Hollywood, see what Harrison Street has to offer – you won’t be disappointed.
